Podere Bucine

V i n e y a r d , o l i v e g r o v e , f a m i l y , C h i a n t i

Since 1924 here in Bucine, near Montefioralle, first as farmers then as owners. The vineyard is almost the same as it was 100 years ago, planted according to the old Chianti Classico specification. The olive grove is older, mainly the moraiolo olive trees. In addition to concrete and steel barrels, for a couple of years 3 oak barrels have been used to produce Chianti Classico Riserva. One step at a time, we are taking care of Luciano’s legacy.

Our rows are 95% Sangiovese grapes, a few rows of Merlot and a few rows of white grapes, Trebbiano and Malvasia (with which we will soon produce a glorious white wine!). Our cellar has steel barrels, cement and some oak barriques for the production of Chianti Classico Riserva. It is possible to visit our vineyard and our cellar before each tasting.

The crystal liquid

Our olive grove is 85% of Moraiolo, a rustic plant with reduced foliage, with spherical olives with a black colour, with purple shades and a high amount of polyphenols. The remaining plants are a mix-ture of Frantoio, Leccino, Maremmano and Morcaio

The benign soil

O u r l a n d

The soil of our farm is mainly alberese, a marly limestone, with some areas characterised by the pres-ence of pietraforte, a sandstone with high percentages of active limestone. This type of soil helps to give the wines structure, combined with a particular softness of acidity due to alkaline soils and elegant tannins that are more accentuated in the areas of pietraforte. The orography stands at altitudes between 300 and 500 meters, which helps to maintain the acidity and the content of polyphenols.
